Guidelines for the Evaluation of Hydropower and Multi-Purpose Project Portfolios (Mekong River Commission)

AMP Insights provided economics input as part of an international consultant team for the Mekong Rover Commission’s (MRC) Initiative on Sustainable Hydropower project developing a report: Guidelines for Multipurpose Evaluation of Hydropower Projects. As part of this work, we developed a hydropower planning support tool that combines financial and economic analysis of basin hydropower projects with social and environmental criteria into a multi-criteria simulation model. Other work for the MRC included developing a financial projection model of financial/economic returns for large hydropower dams in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, including an application in the transboundary Srepok River Basin and economic valuation of mainstem and downstream impacts of tributary dams on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Delta.
